Supplier Portals
A portal is not so much an application in itself but it allows other
tools to be stored in a single location either internally or on a hosted site. Benefits include:
• Users have a single point of access for multiple eSourcing and / or eProcurement applications
• A portal acts a central source of communication to the whole supply chain community. Specific examples include:
• Examples and models of best practice can be made available to
the full supply chain community
• Regular communication briefs can be directed to the supply chain community, through the portal, in either text or multi media format
• Details on past eSourcing events can be stored to aid users, perhaps in different operating companies with a group, who wish to operate the eSourcing process for the same categories
• Some portals can also be structured to provide limited access to suppliers which could be used to communicate important key messages.
